WE'VE GOT THE EDGE
NLA'S BOYΝΤΟΝ
continued from page 27
During his career with NLA, Boynton authored the classic textbook, Chemistry & Technology of Lime and Limestone, which is the only American publication covering this specific subject. A second edition is due in the near future.
Boynton indicated he will not retire completely from the association; he has agreed to serve as a part-time consultant for one year, working from his home in Chincoteague, Va.
NLA's new executive director, Kenneth Gutschick, is a native of the Chicago area and earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in geography from the University of Chicago. While with NLA, much of his activities centered on the use of lime in road and airfield stabilization, building construction, and environmental pollution control, with emphasis on developing technical articles and educational movies.
His positions prior to joining the association included: instructor of geology, University of Notre Dame; field editor, Pit & Quarry magazine, and associate editor, Rock Products magazine.

OSHA Reaffirms Original
Ground Fault Standard
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has reaffirmed its standard requiring the use of ground fault circuit interrupters or an assured grounding conductor program on construction sites.
Reaffirmation of the standard, originally promulgated on December 21, 1976, follows OSHA consultation with its Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health in accordance with a remand from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. No change was made in the ground fault protection standard as originally promulgated.
