# Air Purifying
MSA offers Comprehensive Compliance Guide as NIOSH 42 CFR Part 84 Deadline Quickly Approaches. On July 10, 1998, everything changes for particulate filtering air-purifying respirators at the worksite in the United States, and the time for companies to change is right now. MSA, a leading manufacturer of safety equipment for industry, is a premier resource to learn about what the changes entail and how to comply with new governmental standards immediately. MSA is offering a free comprehensive guide to the new respiratory regulations called "Face It, It's Time to Change: How to Comply with the New 42 CFR Part 84 Standard." The kit contains:

A copy of the standard itself.
An "Intelligence Report" listing 16 facts on the new standard.

# Ergonomics info
A booklet that explains and explores the concepts and practices of ergonomics in hand tool design and use has been co-published by Stanley and the National Safety Council. "Introductory Hand Tool Ergonomics" introduces ergonomics as "the science of fitting the job task to the person doing the work instead of forcing the person to fit the job," and details the advantages of good ergonomic design. In addition, the booklet describes the various types of injuries associated with poor ergonomic design, the risk factors involved, and how to minimize those risks for greater job safety, comfort and efficiency. Also covered are a variety of ergonomic issues involved in hand tool design, including such factors as grip force, wrist angle, repetitions, vibration, torque, handle design, and gender differences.
The booklet also provides criteria for choosing tools with good ergonomic design in a number of categories such as hammers, screwdrivers, knives, hand saws, and tape rules. The 12-page, illustrated booklet is available for $1 per copy by writing: Heggen & Associates, Inc., P.O. Box 5025, Evanston, IL 60204-5025.
