"Masonry: It Makes a Village" Competition

The new addition to our competition program for 2005 is "Masonry: It Makes a Village". This 2 day competition challenges leading mason contractors and architects from across the country to create a design build project with a predetermined amount of brick, masonry units, glass block and cultured stone. This program showcases the creative energies and work of masonry experts to gain a better understanding of non-traditional uses of masonry and how a one-dimensional plan becomes a three dimensional structure.

With a view of Lake Michigan and Chicago's skyline, there is no better way to kick off the start of the Masonry Showcase at Construct America™. Attendees of the Masonry Showcase, CSI and FM shows will be awed by the Field Museum's more than 35 world-renowned exhibits including Sue, the world's largest and most famous T-Rex. Guests of this exclusive event will enjoy an evening of networking with attendees from all three Construct America™ shows while strolling among exhibits representing thousands of years of history and culture. International Skills Challenge Competition

The International Skills Challenge is a competition of masonry apprentices in first, second and third year skills levels. The contest is a showcase for skills training in the masonry industry, challenging winning apprentices from regional U.S. and foreign competitions to determine the top masonry apprentice at each level. This exciting competition spotlights our industry's finest young masons and focuses attention on careers in the masonry industry.
Fastest Trowel Competition

The spotlight will be on the top masons from around the country as the Fastest Trowel Competition takes place in Chicago. There are no second chances in this single-heat competition. Many returning champions and experienced masons will compete to lay the most block with the most accuracy with just a tiny bit of time. With large cash prizes at stake, if you have not seen this competition, you have not experienced the roar of the cheering crowd!
Masonry Showcase Closing Event at Second City

Guests of the 2005 Masonry Showcase will enjoy a private rib-tickling show at Chicago's Second City Theatre. Since 1959, The Second City Theatre has established itself as a Chicago landmark and a national treasure. The theatre that launched the careers of such comic greats as John Belushi, Mike Myers, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, and more, offers hilarious comedy shows. The theatre has a resident troupe that writes and performs an original comedy revue. The shows are smart, funny, highly original and will have you rolling in your seats. Guests will dine on a Chicago Style feast at the Fairmont prior to the show.
