CHICAGO, ILL-MCAA Special Report No. 2 on Pension Plans has been released to all Chapter offices. The report combines the articles by I. Austin Kelly III which appeared in MASONRY. k County Golf Outing

CHICAGO, ILL. Over 175 persons attended the Annual Golf Outing of MCA of Cook County, Ill., held at Ridgewood Country Club, Addison, III., Thursday, July 27th. Class A championship was won by G. Simon. Winner of Class B first prize was Robert Waldorf. Bob Schwake was first in Class C.

Winners in the blind bogie were Telander and Bill Koerber. Joseph Szabo, MCA of Cook County Vice President and MCAA treasurer was recipient of the board of directors trophy.


Louis Chapter Meeting

ST. LOUIS, MO. Following the regular business meeting of the Mason Contractors Association of St. Louis, Clipper Mfg. Co. presented an instructive program on the proper maintenance of masonry saws. Featured were slides which emphasized the steps to follow in securing the greatest efficient performance and economy. Clipper has developed an informative program which is available to other chapters upon request either to MCAA Executive Office or Clipper.

HOLD JOURNEYMEN

SCHOOL IN DENVER

Recently in Denver, Colorado, twenty experienced bricklayers completed a course designed to increase their proficiency as craftsmen and to prepare them for future foreman positions.

Sponsors of the course were BM&PIU Local No. 1, Colorado, the Denver Mason Contractors Association, the U. S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, and Structural Clay Products Institute in cooperation with the Denver public school system.

The instructor for the class was Russ Jones a union contractor who along with his partners in J.C.R. Mason Contractors began as a bricklayer, became a foreman, and during the war ram-rodded over 300 masons in a Construction Battalion in Europe.

The course was conceived with the idea of giving journeymen bricklayers (Continued on page 15)
