Greetings from President Bidwell

Our Annual Convention theme, "Into the '70s, a Decade of Progress," typifies the spirit and accomplishments we have enjoyed during the past year. To highlight some of the more noteworthy achievements:

* International agreements have been revised with both the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers' International Union of America and the Laborers' International Union of North America.

Thanks to the efforts of our All-Weather Study Committee, a revised recommended practice and a totally new cold weather specification are now in their final stages of preparation. We are now on the right track of solving many all-weather construction problems.

And a long-standing goal has been achieved by the MCAA Management Institute for its Masonry Estimating Course. With the recent course in Hershey, Pa., enrollment has surpassed the 1,100 mark! This truly represents one of your association's major accomplishments over the past twenty years. Congratulations to Chairman Bob Harrison and the entire Education Committee for attaining this significant goal. Education is one of the paramount obligations of MCAA, and through the development of new and improved educational programs, we hope to expand on the factual information available to every MCAA member.

We want to add our special thanks to all who have contributed to the MCAA Labor Relations Fund. This important endeavor will do much to assist your association in dealing with the many complicated labor problems.

We welcome you to Chicago and look forward to seeing you in person. Join with us in 1970 to make it the most progressive year ever for the entire masonry industry.

Sincerely,
Donald R Bidwell
