Lull Winch Option
A new option winch for all new and existing Lull Highlander Highlifts is available from Lull Engineering Co., Inc., 3045 Hwy. 13, St. Paul, MN 55121. The winch mounts behind the Highlander's forks and allows easier handling of awkward, bulky loads, yet doesn't interfere with the unit's ability to handle fork-mounted loads. The hydraulically powered winch is self-looking and controlled by cab-mounted levers to a miximum cable speed of 30 ft/min.
Mason's Rules
Two unique mason's rules introduced by Stanley Tools, Box 1800, Dept. PID, New Britain, CT 06050, are designed for brick masons and tile setters using the modular system, and for masons gauging and maintaining even spacing of brick courses. The mason's modular spacing rule is marked with six scales in 16 modules as well as scales for building block, facing tile, economy brick and small facing tile, engineered brick, standard brick, and Roman brick. The spacing rule has 10 different brick-spacing scales plus 8ths and 16ths in. graduations for easy and instant reading.
Fireplace Mantels
A 6-page brochure illustrating over 25 decorative wood mantels for built-in masonry fireplaces is offered by Readybuilt Products Co., P.O. Box 4306. Baltimore, MD 21223. Included are a variety of styles from traditional to modern. The literature also contains a detailed measurement explanation chart to assist in selecting the proper size mantel.
Theft Protection
The availability of a tool to assist owners of construction equipment and other machinery to permanently mark their property has been announced by Equipment Theft Information Program, Inc., P.O. Box 571, Addison, IL 60101. The die stamp provides a %" straight line, 10-digit, factory-type impression that is difficult to alter without detection. Simple to use, the impression is made by striking the holder head a sharp blow with a hammer.
AA Anchor Catalog
AA Wire Products Co., 6100 S. New England Ave., Chicago, IL 60638, offers a new catalog showing Veneer Anchors and Ties especially designed for steel stud applications. The literature describes and lists specs for 17 different applications of the units and offers recommendations for usage.
Arcal Chemicals
Arcal Chemicals, Inc., P.O. Box 8533, Seat Pleasant, MD 20027, has announced the availability of concrete admixtures that are totally calcium chloride-free and proven to give excellent results as accelerators, super water reducers, plasticizers and strength boosters. The company says these admixtures eliminate any corrosive effects on imbedded rebar, deck planking, and all metals attached to concrete. Arcal construction chemicals include an extensive list of exposed aggregate surface retarders, form releases, rust removers and preventatives, and welding and metal treatment chemicals.
Trowel Holsters
A new line of tool pouches designed specifically for the masonry trades has been introduced by Trowel Holsters, Inc., 320 E. Alpine St., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. One size holster fits all trowels used by stone, brick, block and tile masons. The holster features a sloped, rolled top to keep the trowel handle to the rear where it will not interfere with other work when the trowel is in the holster.
Instruments Booklet
An instruction booklet on the selection and use of builder's instruments is available from David White Instruments, N93, W16288 Megal Dr., Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. The illustrated guide, "It's Easy to be Accurate, describes levels and level-transits and how they are used. The booklet contains basic examples of how to stake out a house on a building lot and how to check the difference in elevation between two points. The guide also includes a complete definition of terms.

Portable Heater
A portable propane furnace has been added to its established line of Ultramatic furnaces by Union Chill Mat Co., P.O. Box 250, Zelienople, PA 16063. The new unit burns vaporized propane and features a BTU range of 350,000 to 600,000. It may be used either vented or unvented, depending on location, and is suited for curing concrete or warming workers in enclosed areas.
Diamond Saws
Lunzer Industrial Diamonds, Inc.. Ceramic Products Div., 48 W. 48th St., New York, NY 10036, has broadened its product line for the masonry and refractory industries with the addition of segmented diamond saws ranging from 8 to 36" dia. Other Lunzer products include core bits, grinding wheels, "minimized" drills, and special machines.
