# MCAA Estimating Course
Offered in New York

Another program in the MCAA Management Institute's continuing series of educational seminars will take place on February 16-17 at the Sheraton Inn at LaGuardia in East Elmhurst, N.Y. The subject is "Masonry Estimating For a Profit" and will again be conducted by well-known management consultant Jerry G. Pope of Greeley, Colo.

Registration fees for the one and one-half day program are $125 for MCAA members and $175 for non-members. The fees include necessary supplies and reference materials, coffee breaks, and one luncheon.

The International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen has elevated Joan N. Baggett to the post of director of communications with responsibility for the union's publications, and legislative and political programs. William T. Masey has joined the sales staff of Laticrete International, Inc., representing the firm in southern California, Las Vegas and Arizona. Richard H. Bell, formerly a ceramic tile contractor in California, has been named eastern sales manager for Steuler International Corp., Canton, Ohio. Richard M. "Mike" Johnson, formerly with the U.S. Labor Department, has been appointed director of safety and environmental health for National Gypsum Co., Dallas, Texas.

# Warner, Griner Honored by Arizona Masonry Groups

Virgil Griner (left) and Blaine Warner (right) were recently honored at a special dinner meeting as acknowledged leaders of Arizona's masonry industry. The veteran mason contractors were recognized for their years of service to the Arizona Masonry Contractors Association, Masonry Industry Program of Arizona, Arizona Masonry Guild, and the Bricklayers & Tilesetters Trust Fund. Both men are charter members and past presidents of the Arizona MCA. Warner is also a past regional vice president of MCAA and served on a number of its committees. AMCA president Jim Hart (center) presented the special plaques.


# Ontario Is Site for '83
MCAA Summer Exec.
Board Meeting

The 1983 MCAA Summer Executive Board Meeting has been scheduled for the Pillar & Post, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, Canada, June 26-29.

Niagara-On-The-Lake is one of the best preserved and historically rich communities in Canada. An extremely popular resort, it is situated on the shores of Lake Ontario and the Niagara River and close by the Welland Ship Canal.

MCAA Board members will receive special instructions on making reservations for this meeting.

The Ohio Masonry Council and Architects Society of Ohio recently presented "Excellence In Masonry" awards to five architectural firms for their building designs. Those honored were:

* PDT + Co. Architects/Planners, Cincinnati, for the Taft Broadcasting Co. corporate headquarters in Cincinnati.
* Bohm-NBBJ, Inc., Columbus, for the Physical Habilitation & Education Building in Mt. Vernon.
* Baxter Hodell Donnelly Preston/Architects, Cincinnati, for the Automatic Data Processing, Inc. regional data processing center, Cincinnati.
* E. A. Glendening, FAIA, Architects, Cincinnati, for the College of Law building, University of Cincinnati.
* Levin Porter, Inc., Architects, for the propylaeum at the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton.

Architecture Professors

Professors from schools of architecture in northeastern United States and eastern Canada found themselves back in school again this time as students, not instructors. They were there to learn about the latest developments.
