Prime-Mover Co. Elects Gene Waddell President

The Prime-Mover Co., Muscatine, la., has elected L. Gene Waddell president, the parent firm, HON Industries, has announced. Waddell joined Prime Mover in 1964 as sales manager and most recently held the post of executive vice president.

Chinese Pay Tribute to American Brick Industry

George C. Sells, board chairman of General Shale Products Corp., was recently presented with a 25-pound brick from the Great Wall of China as a gift to the American brick industry from the people of China. Ambassador Chai Zemin of the People's Republic of China made the presentation as part of a cultural exchange.

Robert A. Krueger has been named to the new post of division manufacturing manager of Target Products Division, Federal-Mogul Corp., Kansas City, Mo. Robert M. Cradock, president of The Stone Center, St. Louis, Mo., has been elected secretary of the Building Stone Institute in addition to being a member of its board of governors. Henry S. Borkovitz has been appointed vice president/engineering of Realist, Menomonee Falls, Wis., manufacturer of precision surveying instruments. Jim Cope, president of Morgen Manufacturing Co., Yankton, S.D., participated in a committee meeting of light equipment distributors.

Connecticut Institute Names Grimm Director

The Masonry Institute of Connecticut has appointed a masonry industry veteran, Glenn Grimm, as its executive director. His headquarters will be at 6 Lunar Dr., Woodbridge, CT 06525, (203) 389-5134. Grimm's association with the masonry field dates back to 1949. He was an officer and director of Primeau-Argo Block Co. Ltd., Rexdale, Ont., Canada. He is a past president of the National Concrete Producers and a Canadian director of the National Concrete Masonry Association in the U.S. His most recent position was executive director of the National Concrete Producers Association of Canada.

Expands Cement Plant

Genstar Cement & Lime Co., San Francisco, Calif., has announced the first phase of a modernization and expansion program at its San Andreas. Calif., cement plant involving an expenditure of some $20 million. The work is scheduled for completion in 1984 and will increase the plant's capacity to 700,000 tons a year.

Unit Masonry Group Holds Annual Meeting

The Unit Masonry Association of Cincinnati recently convened for its 23rd annual meeting. The theme for the conference was "Review 1981 and Preview 1982."

St. Louis MCA Installs Officers; Bach President

Edward E. Bach, Sr., president of Edward E. Bach & Sons Contracting Co., was installed as president of the Mason Contractors Association of St. Louis at the group's recent installation dinner. He succeeds Donald C. Grant of Grant Contracting Co., Inc., who will remain active in the industry as chairman of the Masonry Institute of St. Louis and a member of several industry committees and boards. Other newly installed officers are: vice president. John J. Smith, John J. Smith Maso Masonry, Inc.; secretary. Carl J. Heumann, Carl J. Heumann Contracting Co., Inc., and treasurer, Ronald F. Pfleger, Ronald F. Pfleger Brick Contracting Co.

Ads for Architects

Now that the legal profession has begun advertising, could the architectural profession be far behind? Morris-Aubry Architects of Houston, Texas, have broken the ice and launched an advertising campaign in such prestigious national publications as Time, Sports Illustrated and The Wall Street Journal. No word yet on the results, but they should be worth waiting for.
