Ludowici Acquired
The assets of the Ludowici-Celadon Division of CSC have been acquired by a subsidiary of CertainTeed Corporation, headquartered in Valley Forge, PA. Ed Ryser will remain as president and chief operating officer of Ludowici and will come under the Residential Roofing Division of CertainTeed.
New Brick Reload Center
CSX Transportation Inc. (CSXT) is teaming with a Massachusetts concern to ship brick through a new rail-truck reload center serving New England. Customers will be able to receive brick shipped to the reload center from producers located on CSXT's 19-state rail system. The reload center at Exit 8 of the Massachusetts Turnpike in Bondsville, Mass., is operated by Quaboag Transfer Inc.
Quaboag Transfer will receive brick by rail, store it as the customer requires and provide truck delivery to all points in New England. Bondsville is located 20 miles east of Springfield, Mass., and approximately 70 miles from both Boston and Providence, R.I.
Shipments will move over CSXT lines to Washington, D.C. The Delaware & Hudson Railway and the Central Vermont Railway will carry the product north of Washington, D.C.
Acquire D'Huy Engineering
The Nielsen-Wurster Group, Inc., a national engineering/construction management company, has acquired D'Huy Engineering, a twelve-year-old nationally recognized structural/civil/forensic engineering proprietorship. The new subsidiary, renamed D'Huy Engineering, Inc., will continue its involvement in forensic, structural and construction consulting from its main office located at 453 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA as well as its newly established regional office in Tucson, AZ.
The officers of the new subsidiary are Robert F. Jacobsen, CEO, Gerard J. D'Huy. President and James C. Manning. Secretary/Treasurer.
