SARA Goal Is to Unify Regulations

THE SOCIETY of Registered American Architects will direct its efforts towards unifying the regulations among state boards who govern the practice of architecture, according to a resolution adopted by the Society's annual assembly at its recent national convention in Minneapolis.

"The disparity between states in the laws governing the practice of architecture became readily apparent as member after member related the laws and regulations of their home states," said Harry E. Botesch of Everett, Washington, SARA's national president. "The differences are very extreme, causing extensive confusion regarding what an architect or engineer can or cannot do in each state."

Career Development Services Planned

THE ASSOCIATED Equipment Distributors has established a foundation to focus on rejuvenating the construction equipment industry's workforce in the face of a growing shortage of qualified people to perform managerial, technical and customer service positions. The foundation will provide a wide range of educational and career development services.

Lester J. Heath, president of Albany Ladder Company, was elected president of the new foundation. Other officers are: Robert K. Henderson, vice president, Cummins Ohio, Hilliard, Ohio; Lee J. Crittenden, vice president, Associates Commercial Corporation, Dallas, Texas; and John Corcoran, treasurer, Norton Construction Products, Gainesville, Georgia.

Lampus Recognized for Paving Way to Nature

R. I. LAMPUS COMPANY, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania manufacturer of architectural pavers, was recently presented an award by the Moraine Preservation Fund for the installation of a wildlife observation deck at Moraine State Park in Portersville, Pennsylvania, just north of Pittsburgh. The award was presented to Robert Welling the company's paver product manager, for his personal involvement and the company's participation in the park improvement program. The company provided the pavers at a fraction of their actual cost.
