Finishing/Tooling
Mortar joints should only be tooled when the mortar reaches a "thumb print" consistency. Mortar joints tooled too late or over-tooled will be burned and darkened. Mortar joints that are tooled too soon or too wet will create a smear on the surface of the joint and will be lighter.
Select the gentlest effective method and cleaner that meet the project's needs. Use a commercially prepared proprietary masonry cleaner. Clean as soon as possible (generally after 7 days) from the top, down. Pre-wet all walls while keeping walls below wet. Upon cleaner application and cleaning, rinse thoroughly. Architecture designed the stadium and decided to have the pavers installed on the right field wall outside the stadium.
David Tyler, lead architect on the project, evaluated options and chose Mason Bond to adhere the pavers directly to the concrete wall. "Using Mortar would have required multiple steps to install the pavers with the installation of metal lathe onto the concrete wall,"
