Report of the MCAA South of 40 Committee

Words: Lindsey StringerMission Statement: The mission of the South of 40 is to provide members the opportunity to learn, to become more involved, and introduce a youthful voice into the masonry industry. We will accomplish this by fostering lasting relationships, encouraging new ideas, and educating the leaders of tomorrow with the objective of increasing the masonry market share and ensuring our industry is as solid as the products we promote.

We also encourage you to bring along your key team members to participate in this special event. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased either at the MCAA booth or at the door. Cost: $100. Door opens at 7 pm.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the MCAA Foundation, a 5013(c)(3) charitable organization, and will be distributed to programs that help support masonry education and training. All sponsorships are tax deductible.

Sponsorship Dollars & Ticket Sales Generated for Pete’s

At the time this report was written, we had successfully secured and collected all of the $18,850 that was committed in sponsorships for the event. That surpassed the $13,750 we collected for our inaugural event last year at Hofbrauhaus. To date, we have sold/allocated 62 tickets to the event for a total amount of $3,600. Last year we sold a total of 65 tickets. We anticipate selling quite a few more tickets during the Convention and at the door to further ensure the success of our fundraiser and make it even more memorable. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to secure the sponsors & sell the tickets. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

We’ve Begun Planning our “Mini Convention”

This event is scheduled to coincide with the 2013 MCAA Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. (mid-May). We’re looking at possibly hosting the event and inviting several other “South of 40” type groups to take part from organizations like NCMA, BIA, and other stone supplier groups. The agenda is still in the works and so we’re open to getting lots of input from everyone on the topics they’d like to see discussed and the issues they’d like to see address. Please keep the timeframe in mind and certainly look for more information to come out about this event in the year ahead.
