Mustang R Series Skid Steer Loaders

Words: Noah AccordMustang has redesigned their full-sized radial lift skid steer loader line. The all-new herd, the R Series, includes three models — the 1900R, the 2200R, and the 2600R. Offering a brand new operator’s station with an integrated digital display, improved 360-degree visibility, pressurized cab option, Tier IV-compliant Yanmar engines and an enhanced hydraulic system, the R Series is a new breed in the Mustang stable.

The R Series radial-lift skid steer loaders fall into the large-frame category, bringing raw performance to the jobsite. When equipped with optional counterweights, the rated operating capacities range from 2,110 lbs. (957 kg) on the 1900R to 2,780 lbs. (1261 kg) on the 2600R. Lift heights reach up to 120.5” (3061 mm) on the 1900R and 123” (3124 mm) on the 2200R and 2600R.

These large-frame loaders come equipped with environmentally-friendly, emissions compliant Tier IV Yanmar engines that incorporate DPF (diesel particulate filter) technology and do not require fuel after-treatments, such as urea. With maximum torque ratings from 173 ft.-lbs. (235 Nm) on the 1900R to 206 ft.-lbs. (279.3 Nm) on the 2600R, these machines are equipped with the power needed to tackle demanding jobs.

The R Series Skid Steer Loaders come equipped with high-powered auxiliary hydraulics with excellent flow ratings and precision controllability. Achieve flow rates from 31.5 gpm (119 L/min) on the 1900R to 35 gpm (132.5 L/min) on the 2200R and 2600R with the high-flow configuration. Impressive breakout forces deliver optimal digging and lifting performance. Quicker cycle times further enhance productivity on the jobsite.

The state-of-the-art operator’s compartment on the new R Series Skid Steer Loaders leaves little to be desired. A new side-folding restraint bar and armrests with multiple adjustments enhance operator comfort and safety. Control towers are fully adjustable and the mechanical or air-ride suspension seat options deliver outstanding comfort. A cab-forward design and lowered rear towers deliver unmatched visibility to the bucket edge and rear of the machine. The optional pressurized sealed cab enclosure, with sound reduction material and a rear- mounted air filter, provides a cleaner, quieter, climate-controlled working environment.

Controllability and ease of use are part of the package on the new R Series Skid Steer Loaders. Customize your skid steer loader with two control options; joystick and hand/foot. Auxiliary hydraulic controls are located on the joystick in both configurations for easy access. A fully- customizable digital display provides coolant, fuel, battery, environmental and engine regeneration information in real time.
Versatility is essential for skid steer loaders and Mustang knows this. That is why the R Series is designed with many time-saving features that enhance versatility on the jobsite. These features include pressure-relieving hydraulic couplers, which make attachment changes simple and safe. Thumb-controlled proportionate auxiliary hydraulics and an augmented hydraulic flow enhance attachment controllability for precision movements and ease of use.

Excellent service access is achieved on the R Series models through the extra-wide rear door and engine hood. The ROPS/FOPS structure tilts back with the aid of hydraulic lift cylinders, exposing hydraulic components. Plus, all high-rotation pins have grease points for ease of maintenance.

These exciting new R Series Skid Steer Loaders also include many other features such as the manual Multi-TachTM or hydraulic Power-a-TachTM attachment systems, HydraGlideTM ride control and the HydralocTM safety system. The new R Series maintain the compact width, length and height Mustang skid steers are known to provide.

“The design of the new Mustang R Series Skid Steer Loaders is a result of 48 years of skid steer market experience and extensive feedback from loyal Mustang equipment owners,” says Sean Bifani, Mustang Skid Steer Loader Product Manager. “In the design of the R Series Skid Steer Loaders, Mustang has focused on customer voice and market expectations, resulting in excellent hydraulic performance and uncompromised operator comfort our users are demanding. To guarantee emissions compliance, we chose the engine technology that was best suited to the Mustang skid steer line and the applications it excels in.”

Mustang R Series Skid Steer loaders are available in Canada and North America. These new large-frame skid steer loaders are popular among contractors, landscapers, and excavation companies due to their excellent ground engaging capabilities and high capacity strength. Rental businesses will also benefit from the versatile nature of the new R Series Skid Steer Loaders. The attention to creature comforts and lowered sound levels make the R Series skid steers a common sight in the agricultural industry as well.
