NT BOARD CHAIRMAN

. MITCHELL RESIGNS
WASHINGTON, D. C. R. J. Mitchell has resigned as chairman of the National Joint Board for the Settlement of Jurisdictional Disputes, Construction Industry, effective the end of 1961. His resignation was accepted in New York at a meeting of sponsoring organizations. No successor has been named.


SHEN NEW DIRECTOR
WASHINGTON, D. C. Secretary of Labor Arthur Goldberg recently named Edward E. Goshen Director of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training of the U. S. Department of Labor. Mr. Goshen has been serving as Acting Director since December. He has been with the Bureau for 24 years.

FT. WORTH, TEXAS The third annual meeting of Mason Contractors in Texas was held at the Hilton Hotel, August 31 through September 3 under the leadership of W. A. Courtney. Highlight of the meeting was the presentation to the group by Mr. Courtney of the groups' new 1961-62 Buyers Guide. The new publication covers Building Codes, Cost Indexes, and other valuable data for the Masonry Industry.

During the Saturday afternoon business session C. DeWitt Brown, Dallas Chapter, was selected as president of the group for the coming year with W. B. Slayden, also of Dallas, as treasurer.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. Members of the Milwaukee Chapter heard John D. Hennick, tax expert, discuss the various tax laws at their October 13th meeting. Mr. Hennick also spoke on the states sales tax and its effect on the masonry industry. Program Chairman for the Milwaukee group is Phil Emley.

BALTIMORE, MD. Frank Fulco was elected President of the Mason Contractors Association of Baltimore at the group's annual meeting. Other officers selected were: Salvatore Trionfo, Vice President; Austin Shoemaker, Treasurer and Henry J. Knott, Jr., Secretary.

CINCINNATI, OHIO The second in a series of programs on Masonry Construction was held by the UMA of Cincinnati on Thursday, Oct. 5th, at the Kenwood Country Club. Featured speaker of the evening was Orville H. Bauer, A.I.A., who is affiliated with Bellman, Gillett & Richards, Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Bauer spoke on the use of structural glazed facing tile. Executive Director of the Cincinnati UMA is William F. Collins.
