The NCMA is currently laying plans for its 42nd annual convention to be held Jan. 15-18, 1962, in Bal Harbour, Miami Beach, Fla. Officials anticipate that more than 1,200 industry officials will attend the 1962 sessions in the Americana Hotel.

The 1963 convention will be held in Dallas, it was announced.


Revise Publication

WASHINGTON, D. C. The National Concrete Masonry Association has enlarged and revised the 1957 publication "Concrete Masonry Foundation Walls."

Important revisions concern reinforced concrete masonry foundation walls, updating of design and construction recommendations, ASTM specifications, building code requirements, and construction practice.

ASTM Committee C-12

WASHINGTON, D. C.-Committee C-12, ASTM, is currently doing work in masonry including: (1) establishing test procedures for determining efflorescence contribution of mortar materials and masonry units; (2) proposed new graduation limits for mortar aggregates; (3) study of chippage requirements for face brick; (4) work on an accelerated freeze-thaw test procedure; (5) study of durability of surface colored faces; and (6) study of durability of brick.

Apprenticeship Conference

JACKSON, MISS. The thirteenth annual Southern States Apprenticeship Conference will be held July 29, at the Heidlberg Hotel, here. The sessions will be open to the entire membership of Allied Construction Industries.

General chairman of the conference is R. E. Jordan.
