New York City Launches Promotional Campaign

(continued from page 17)

three months in the IRT, BMT and IND subways as well as the Fifth Ave., Madison Ave., and other major bus lines in the various boroughs. The radio spots are designed to reach the public in late afternoon as they are driving home from work. Morning spots as well are being contemplated.

According to Joseph Holme, president of the Metropolitan Brick Masonry Council, "The effort is based on the industry's need to tell its story to the public. Brick is and always has been one of the best building buys available to builders of office buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels, homes and practically any type building an individual, corporation or government body might require. It is low in cost, easy to maintain, is easy to heat a brick building and brick also makes a building cooler in summer because of its insulative qualities."

According to Mr. Holme, "The various other building materials have had their day in New York as we have all witnessed. Brick has not only held its own, but it is moving forward again. In addition to all its traditional qualities, we have an efficient industry set-up in the form of 50 of the largest brick mason contractors and a steady, efficient work force. We simply want to tell the public the story of our product and feel that the subways, buses, and air-waves are the most economical and efficient means of doing so on a limited budget."
