Tennessee Chapters Hold 12th Annual Meeting

The Tennessee Chapters of the Mason Contractors Association of America held their 12th annual meeting at the Gatlinburg Motor Inn, Gatlinburg. Tenn. on August 6-8. Highlighting the meeting were addresses by Ralph Schaefer. Assistant Treasurer, Signal Mountain Portland Cement Co., and Tom A. Windrom, A.I.A. Mr. Schaefer's speech was entitled "Maximizing Profits" while Mr. Windrom discussed "The Future of Masonry".

During the opening session MCAA President Les Dietrich reviewed the actions taken by the Executive Board at its meeting in Hershey, Pa., and George Miller re-examined current programs and presented a speech entitled "What's Ahead".

Representative from the various chapter cities reported on activities in their communities. During the annual meeting delegates elected Donald Cook, Memphis, new State Chairman with W. A. Fortner the new State Secretary.

On Friday afternoon members took to the Gatlinburg Country Club course for the annual golf tournament. Winners were Douglas Sherman and Garland Sherman. Following a refreshment hour at 6:30 on Saturday evening the members and their wives enjoyed the annual banquet in the John Sevier Room of the Hotel.


HILLTOP LAKES SITE OF ANNUAL TEXAS MEETING

Charles C. Dann, Jr., Texas State Chairman, announces that all arrangements have been completed for the Big State Meeting to be held at Hilltop Lakes Resort, Texas, August 19-21. Business sessions will start on Friday morning at 9 o'clock. An old fashion fish fry, a Texas Barbecue, golf, and boating are just a few of the exciting events on recreation calendar. From all reports this should be the biggest State Meeting ever held by the Texas Chapters.


MCA of Indiana Elects New Officers

The Mason Contractors Association of Indiana at a recent dinner meeting installed their new officers. They are: Marvin Argenta, President; Leo Lagura, Vice President; Carl Springman, Secretary and Neville Gough, Treasurer. President Argenta presented Peter S. Baier, Hobart, Indiana, a plaque signifying 10 years of participation with the local chapter. Mr. Baier has served the MCAA in many capacities and is currently the Chairman of this Association's Accident Prevention Committee. During the past year MCA of Indiana sponsored several educational meetings for the Industry.
