Masonry reinforcing is only as effective as its bond with mortar and masonry. Knurling of side rods, flush welding of intersecting wires and projecting side rods, all improve bond strength. (Robert W. Hunt Co., Engineers report available on request.)
1. All side rods are knurled 75% of their perimeter
2. All intersecting wires are flush welded
3. All cross ties project slightly beyond longitudinal members providing eight mortar locks every 16".
To achieve maximum strength without sacrificing bond, use reinforcement which does not exceed one-half the thickness of the mortar joint.
