Norman Marley has joined the technical sales staff of Sika Chemical Corp's Chicago District Office. Herman L. May, Houston, Texas, was one of the featured speakers at the Annual Convention of the Clay Products Association of the Southwest held on June 24 & 25.

Dur-O-wal has announced the appointment of L. L. "Larry" Stanley as assistant to W. H. Bartlett, Chief Development Engineer. Mr. Stanley is a graduate engineer from Iowa State University. He will be headquartered at Dur-O-wal National, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roche, Rickerd. Henri, Hurst, Inc., nationally known advertising agency based in Chicago as merged and changed names. It is now Draper Daniels, Inc. at the same address, 520 North Michigan ave... Chicago, III. 60611.. J. Stewart Baker, Jr., a senior vice president of The Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, has been elected president of the Alpha Portland Cement Co., effective July 1. He has been a director of Alpha since 1958. The new president succeeds N. O. Wagner who resigned on June 4. R. S. Gerstell, Alpha's chairman has been acting as chief executive officer in the interim.


WASHINGTON PLAN RECEIVES REFUND
Trustees of the Masonry Security Plan of Washington are happy as they receive an administrative refund check for their Fund from Joe Davis, President of the Washington State Laber Council, AFL-CIO, in Seattle, Washington, Davis, who is also the Executive Director of the non-profit Welfare and Pension Service of the WSLC, made the presentation at a refund luncheon. The check, first of its kind to be given by the Welfare and Pension Service, is equal to one month's administrative service charge. Those taking part in the ceremony are, 1. to r., Thomas H. Groth, Administrator; G. E. Blackstock, Management Trustee, Joe Davis, President of the Washington State Labor Council; and Fred Frodesen, Management Trustee.

Management and Labor trustees of the Masonry Security Plan of Washington received a precedent making administrative refund check recently from the Welfare and Pension Service of the Washington State Labor Council AFL-CIO. The refund check was equal to one month's administration service fee normally charged against the fund by the Welfare and Pension Service office of the WSLC.

Joe Davis, President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and Executive Director of the non-profit Welfare and Pension Service, said all 32 trusteed funds administered by the Service as of May 31, 1965 participated in the refund.

"We believe this refund is the first of its kind in the nation. Davis said. "We hope to provide more refunds of administration service fees in the years ahead. We recognize that every cent we can return to participating funds means just that much more money can be invested in benefits to union members."

The Welfare and Pension Service of the Washington State Labor Council was established in 1953 under the leadership of Ed Weston, now retired president of the WSLC. The Service


PERLITE NAMES DIRECTORS
Perlite Institute named two new directors at its 16th annual meeting in Palm Springs, California. Elected for two-year terms were T. C. Ward, Jr., President of Perlite Manufacturing Company of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, and J. Carroll Duncan, President of Redco, Inc. of North Hollywood, California. D. W. Diekman, Vice President of Silbrico Corporation of Chicago, was reelected to the Board.

Lewis Johnson of Texas Lightweight Products Company, Chairman of the Market Development Committee, reported on the promising new market potential for silicone treated perlite loose fill insulation in masonry wall construction. He cited test results to prove the superiority of slicone treated perlite and urged members to make these data available to architects and engineers.
