Robert W Shudes has been named manager of technical service for the Vermiculite Institute He fills the vacancy left by L. A Barron, now managing director of the group. Shuldes is a graduate civil engineer of the Illinois Institute of Technology. B. H. Warren has been appointed manager, tractor and industrial equipment sales, Farm Equipment Div., International Harvester Co... William E. Furlow has been re-elected President of the Indiana Limestone Co. Inc. Other officers elected are K. W. Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer; J. R. Hodges, Assistant-Treasurer and C. B. Fred J. Robbins, President of Bliss & Laughlin Industries has announced the appointment of Frank W. Aughnay as General Manager of the Construction Group. This group consists of four firms; Ames Taping Tool Systems Co., Waco-Porter Co., Goldblatt Tool Co. and Goldblatt Ames Distributing Co... Dennis W. Dobleske has been appointed Area News Gathering Supervisor in the Chicago Region for Dodge Reports.

Hold Cleveland Apprentice Contest
An annual event at the Cleveland Home and Flower Show is the Bricklayer Apprentice Contest, sponsored by the Cleveland Chapter of MCAA, the local bricklayer's union and the Building Trades Employers' Assn. in that city.

Prior to the contest finals, a dinner was held for all parties involved in the contest. Here, H. R. Nemec, president of Cleveland's MCA chapter, pauses and poses with John A. Hull Cleveland MCA executive secretary.

Helping out with the judging during the apprentice contest were Dick Prescott of the MCA member, Christman & Prescott, and Anthony Gattezzi, chief architect for the City of Cleveland.

Winner of the 1966 contest was Raymond Victor. He is employed by the Leo W. Schmidt Co. Runners-up

VI Holds Annual Meeting
Delegates to the Vermiculite Institute's 25th Annual Convention, held recently at Chandler, Arizona, were told that 1965 sales of water repellent vermiculite for insulating masonry walls had increased 1512% over 1964.
