Portable space heaters were discussed by Marshall Jones, Herman Nelson Products, American Air Filter Co. Utilizing a slide presentation the entire field from salamanders on through direct and indirect heaters was effectively covered.

In the area of scaffolding protection, James Cope, Morgen Mfg. Co.; Richard Weires, Bil-Jax, Inc. and Robert Chamber, Service Canvas Co. outlined in detail the various types of weather enclosures. Emphasis was placed on knowing the various factors that do effect the enclosures - such as wind load, fire hazard, lighting, ease of installation and re-use.

P. H. Kutschenreuter, Director, User Affairs, Environmental Science Service Administration, presented a comprehensive report on all the various services now available to the contractor so as to reduce the down-time in the industry. Under the assumption that the recommended weather-service information is made available to the construction industry through the Weather Bureau and private weather forecasting services and is appropriately used, it is estimated that with the present forecast accuracy a potential savings of $0.5 to $1.0 billion annually is possible. This represents approximately 10 to 17 percent of the estimated weather-caused loss.

In the field of additives Daniel Guntin, Sonneborn Building Products, and George Felenthal, Euclid Chemical Company, outlined the various areas where these products can be properly utilized.
