New Lime Film Available
The National Lime Association has available a new 16 mm. color-sound motion picture entitled, "Lime Stabilization of Building Foundations with Pressure Injection." This 22-minute movie deals with a new technique for swelling clay soils in depth in order to minimize soil movement, thereby preventing damage to floor slabs, masonry wall, etc. In the process the troublesome soil is impregnated with a hydrated lime slurry by means of an injector operating at pressures exceeding 200 psi. Stability is achieved from a lime-clay reaction developing after injection.
The movie may be borrowed by interested groups from the National Lime Association, 4000 Brandywine Street, N. W. Washington, D. C. 20016.
Sponsor Award Competition
Forty-eight architectural firms more than ever before-have entered 94 buildings in the annual award competition sponsored by the Ontario Masons Relations Council.
This is the fourth year in which the competition has been held by the Council, an organization representing the Ontario Region, Canadian Structural Clay Association, and the Ontario Conference of the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union.
The awards recognize outstanding Ontario buildings that have been designed by architects and are constructed essentially of structural clay products. There are seven awards in all, one of excellence and up to six of merit, all of which are judged on the basis of both design and workmanship.
