SCHEDULE ANNUAL OUTING
The Detroit Mason Contractors Association will hold its Annual Outing this year at Bonnie Brook Country Club on Wednesday, July 26. Golfing starts at 10:00 a.m. and other sporting events will be conducted throughout the day including a baseball game between the mason contractors and the suppliers. Entertainment and dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Anybody connected with the construction industry whether he be a contractor, supplier, association member or union representative, is invited. GBI Officers Study New CAMEO Unit
CAMEO, the newest architectural gloss wall unit from the Pittsburgh Corning Corporation is examined above by two directors of the Glass Block Institute. Robert Rawlins, left, is manager of architectural glass sales for Pittsburgh Corning; and William Connors, right, is secretary of the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers Internatonal Union of America. The new CAMEO is the first glass wall unit to utilize a raised design surface, as well as the first woll unit to utilize the color combination of black with clear glass. CAMEO is designed to be specifically used with black mortar so that the block pertions of the units will blend together with the mortar. This gives the impression of a unified wall. The Glass Block Institute was formed recently to provide architects, designers, contractors and the building trade with information on glass block building materials.
Celenza Joins AMG
PHOENIX. ARIZ. Chester Celen- za has joined the staff of the Arizona Masonry Guild as Technical Director. For the last six years Mr. Celenza has been with W. T. Hamlyn & Associates, Engineering Consultants serving the Phoenix area.
Hold Regional Meeting
Representatives of Zonolite Division, W. R. Grace & Co., over an 11-state area held a joint sales meeting May 23-25 in Granville, Ohio to review new developments in the firm's line of insulation and construction products.
Under the joint auspices of W. G. Gray and John McEachern, respective managers of the firm's Northern and Central Regions, the meeting was devoted in equal parts to productive technology and new promotional programs.
Featured speakers included Tug Pearcy, Werner Maintenance Co., Columbus, Ohio; Jack Torbett, sales manager, Concrete Products Division, W. R. Grace & Co., Brunswick, Ga.; and R. W. Sterrett, Zonolite's General Manager.
Pearcy, whose firm is an approved Zonolite Roof Deck Applicator, reported enthusiastic acceptance in re-roofing projects with Zonolite's new Dyzone roof deck systems. Torbett acquainted Zonolite's sales personnel with Permadeck, a mineralized wood fiber board product to be promoted by the field sales organizations of both the Zonolite and Concrete Products Divisions. Sterrett gave a status report on Zonolite's business performance in the current year.
PLAN SEVEN SEMINARS
A series of seven Regional Seminars to be held throughout the state of Texas has been announced by the Texas Concrete Masonry Association. The purpose of these Regional Seminars will be to introduce the new TCMA Design Manual to anyone interested in learning more about the use of concrete masonry in load-bearing multi-story structures.
Albyn Mackintosh of the Consulting Engineering firm of Mackintosh & Mackintosh, Los Angeles, California has been commissioned by the Texas Concrete Masonry Association to prepare this new Design Manual. This twenty-five page manual is being developed in order that pertinent information may be offered to architects, engineers and others interested in designing and constructing multi-story structures of load-bearing concrete masonry.
