Although the bold pyramidal form crowned by the ingenious offset belfry gives this church prominence and distinction, the conception is not reflected in the ancillary wings which flank it. The interior is a surprise to the visitor in that the focal point of the church is not as inferred by the high point of the exterior. Nevertheless, the interior space dominated by the beautifully designed altar and tabernacle is impressive.

This strong building (also pictured on our cover) fits well into what might be called the York University vernacular. The panel of judges was impressed with the high level of competence in handling of materials and design, especially in the distribution of brick panels in the framing concrete.

A pedestrian scale is achieved by skillfully designed ligats of steps and well-handled landscaping which adds to the agreeable nature of the complex.
