PCA Presidency Goes
To Robert MacLean

Robert D. MacLean has been elected president of the Portland Cement Association, ending a 16-month search for a successor to retiring president Dr. Harry N. Huntzicker. The 51-year-old cement industry leader will assume the post October 1, according to PCA Board Chairman William J. Young.

Prior to accepting the new position, MacLean was president of Lake Ontario Cement Ltd., Toronto, Canada. His election marks the first time in PCA's 55-year history that a member of the Canadian cement industry has been selected for the Association's top post. Canadian cement companies were among the founders of the Association in 1916, and the Canadian industry, over the years, has played a strong, continuous role in PCA activities.

MacLean has been associated with the cement industry since 1959 when he joined Inland Cement Co. Ltd. as vice president of its Saskatchewan Division. Previously, he had served Canadian firms in other industries in both production and sales capacities.

The new PCA president has served on the PCA Board of Directors since 1966 and worked closely with other industry leaders on various Association activities. Commenting on PCA's goals for the '70's, MacLean said "The Association is an extremely necessary part of our whole cement industry spectrum. the new direction it now is taking offers a tremendous and exciting challenge. I foresee a time when no company will want to be outside."

Radio Data Book

Contractors, architects and engineering firms using two-way mobile radio in the Business Radio Service, facing ever-increasing radio "frequency congestion," will derive considerable benefit from the information in a new Radio Data Book introduced by Arcata Communications Information, Inc.

The new Business Radio Data Book lists specific frequencies of all FCC-authorized Business Radio licenses in the low band, high band 450 mhz frequency range. The three-volume directory tells who operates on these frequencies, their call signs, the type and size of systems, antenna heights and other basic data. Heretofore unavailable in this compact, simple-to-use form, the information should aid mobile radio users in solving problems of signal interference and selecting "least-used" frequencies.

Based on Federal Communications Commission's records, and continually updated by computer processing, the price for the three-volume set is $95.00. Optional monthly up-dating supplements are available for $5.00 per month. The Business Radio Data Book may be ordered from Arcata Communications Information, Inc., 665 National Press Building, Washington, D.C. 20004.
