Joint Ventures for Architects and Engineers, by David R. Dibner, AIA. 205 pages; 6 x 9; $16.50; 20 illustrations; McGraw-Hill. Publication: May 31, 1972.
Joint venturing-the joining of forces of companies on specific projects-has become a dynamic way of dramatically boosting a company's capabilities and profit potential. Now author David R. Dibner has written a first-of-its-kind book on joint venturing entitled Joint Ventures for Architects and Engineers.
Realizing that human relationships determine the success of any venture, Dibner has dedicated a good part of his book to creating harmony between joint venture members through the exploration of interpersonal relationships. His thesis is that intelligent understanding forms the basis of the successful joining of forces, and that the results of such a union well reward the efforts.
A virtual blueprint filled with checklists, charts, and step-by-step procedures, this book takes into consideration the basic aspects of joint ventures, from defining goals and choosing the proper partner to the nuts-and-bolts operations of selecting the right project, obtaining the work, controlling the outcome, and allocating the profits.
David R. Dibner is a partner in the Grad Partnership, Architects, Engineers and Planners, Newark, N.J., where he is responsible for directing large-scale projects. Through his years of practice, he has conceived, developed and directed many joint ventures, including the $36,000,000 James Forrestal Building in Washington, D.C.
