The Next Forty Years Are Just Beginning
By KENNETH S. DASH
Director of Marketing Promotion
Brick Institute of America

The purpose of this monthly column is to give an insight into the BIA promotional operation which, indeed, is intricately woven into the thread of the brick industry national promotion. And that is the way it should be.

But I think it would be wise to review some of the ground we have covered during the last four decades as the Structural Clay Products Institute and the newer Brick Institute of America. To do this, I have enclosed some comments made by BIA Executive Vice President R. W. Otterson from the January issue of BIA News. I think these comments are pertinent, timely and, most important, meaningful to everyone in the brick industry:

Years of change, moments of high achievement, and seemingly insurmountable problems, growth and modernization, resulting in a new brick industry.

"Aware and challenged to achieve even greater growth and to offer the construction markets and the American public not only a product tested by time and history, but continually made better by modern research and engineering technology. It's the story of an industry that never stood still- an industry adapting, creating and moving ever forward. It's an industry united to create better products, better methods and innovative techniques through the Brick Institute of America.

"The BIA, through the support of its vital membership, has earned the title "National Authority on Brick Construction" throughout years of documentation and millions of pages of literature based upon research and investigation. BIA will continue to move forward to create programs and marketing concepts challenged by the new and ever mindful of all
