U. of Texas Offers Study In Masonry Engineering

A course in masonry engineering will be offered for the first time in the College of Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin in the spring term of 1975 beginning January 13. The three-credit-hour, one-semester course was instituted after a recognition by the civil engineering faculty of the considerable increased use of frameless structural systems for high-rise buildings and the $5 billion annual volume of masonry construction in the United States.

Although a graduate course in masonry structural systems has been offered at the university for several years, the new course will offer upper-division undergraduates their first opportunity to learn the principles of masonry design. The new course is the first such course offered in any college of engineering or architecture east of the Rocky Mountains.
