# IMI Promotes Masonry to Millions by Sponsoring David Brinkley Show

Millions of Americans who previously might not have known the difference between a brick and a concrete block are now getting a quick education every weeknight on the advantages of masonry construction. The "students" are the millions who listen to David Brinkley Reports, an NBC Radio Network show broadcast coast-to-coast on more than 200 stations. The "teacher" is the International Masonry Institute, which began sponsorship of Brinkley's show on April 15th with commercials on the fire safety and energy conservation advantages of masonry construction and the beauty of the finished product.

"IMI's participation in the Brinkley show," said IMI Executive Director Neal English, "represents the first time that any masonry promotion organization has broadcast commercials coast-to-coast. If they're already living or working in a masonry building, or a building with properly ventilated or smoke-proofed masonry compartments or shafts, they'll be able to locate them and stand a better chance of being safe.

"If, however, they live or work in a glass building, or in a building with flimsy drywall partitions or stairshafts, we hope they'll consider fire safety (Continued on page 27)
