Bidding Competition Holds Down Construction Costs
Intense competition among building contractors to find work is resulting in bids lower than those six to 12 months ago for comparable construction projects, according to Hugh T. Sharp, publisher of Dodge Building Cost Services.

In a speech before the International Council of Shopping Center Executives conference in Los Angeles, Sharp said that bidding competition and other factors are creating relatively stable construction costs for the immediate future, but warned that this situation is likely to end before the year is over.
