Time Saving Scaffolding
The general contractor working on the new Exton shopping mall in Exton, Pa. used a time-saving work platform to keep ceiling construction and escalator crews from interrupting each other's work. Called "Trouble Saver" Scaffolding Frames, the units straddled the escalator with 16-ft. trusses topped off with a sturdy work platform of plywood. As a result both crews were able to work safely and independently of each other even though they were in the same area at the same time.
The manufacturer of the Trouble Saver (also known as "putlogs"), can supply the trusses in four lengths-8, 12, 16 and 22 ft. The scaffolds can be built to conform to any requirements for length, breadth and height and with a variety of frames and braces for almost any purpose. BlocBond Spray Machine
Two men easily can apply BlocBond, a glass-reinforced surface bonding material made by Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corp., to more than 1,000 sq. ft. of dry-laid concrete block wall in an hour's time with this new spray machine developed especially for BlocBond applications.
The new method was announced by Owens-Corning at the 31st annual convention and exposition of the National Association of Home Builders in Dallas. The BlocBond spray machine was developed by Strong Manufacturing Co., Pine Bluff, Ark.
Torque Converter Crawlers
The new full-color, 14-page brochure from International Harvester, 401 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, III. 60611, describes the new 500E Pay dozer and 500E 75 Pay loader 44-h.p. torque converter crawlers.
Replete with illustrations, details and specifications, the brochure offers information on the 84" x 24" inside mounted blade featuring semi-hydraulic or full hydraulic controls. The full-hydraulic, center pivot 510 blade angles 25° either way and tilts 15" for a 19½" angle cut. A larger semi-hydraulic 93" x 24" outside mounted blade also is available. Harvester Spec Sheet
The new four-page, two-color specification sheet just released by International Harvester Co., 401 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, III. 60611, covers the model 3200B and 3300B Skid Steer Pay Loaders. Replete with drawings and photographic illustrations, the sheet describes the 30 h.p. and 37 h.p. units with lift capacities up to 1,950 lbs.
Both machines are compact size and have hydrostatic four-wheel drive, are highly maneuverable with two-level skid-steering that permits 360° turns within its own tracks, and have oscillating axles to keep all four wheels on the ground. An exclusive rear-mounted, quick-attach International 3082 backhoe is available for both of these leader tractors.
Portable Batch Plant
A new portable batch and mixing plant designed for pre-cast, pre-stressed, tilt-up and specialty concrete manufacturers has been announced by Century Industries, Inc., P.O. Box 132, Georgetown, Tex. 78626.
Named the "Mini-Plant" because of its 14 ft. working height and ability to be towed easily by truck to the job site, the machine is available in 4 models with an output of 10 to 30 yards of mixed concrete per hour. Any tractor with a 5th wheel may be used for towing.
By simply pressing one button, the Mini-Plant weighs each ingredient and shuts off automatically. It has an integral memory enabling it to electronically retain the batch ingredient amounts dialed into it and to repeat the same batch over and over until new instructions are received.
Zonolite Brochure
"Zonolite Styrene Foam" is the title of the new 8-page brochure available from the Construction Products Division of W. R. Grace & Co., Cambridge, Mass. 02140.
Included in the literature is a resume of physical properties; cost comparisons and U-value tables, and application data for sheathing, perimeters, cavity walls, low-temperature space and interior wall insulation treatments.
Plumb Bob Innovation
A new plumb bob with a self-contained spare point has been introduced by the David White Instrument Division of Realist, Inc., N93 W16288 Megal Dr., Menomonee Falls, Wis. 53051.
A plumb bob point damaged in the field can become a genuine liability. Using the new David White plumb bob, damaged point can be replaced immediately. The extra point stored in the cap of the plumb bob is always at hand. David White plumb bobs are available in 8 sizes from 6 to 24 oz.
