EXPAND '76 PROMOTION PROGRAM

A majority of the Mason Contractors Association of America members in North America currently fund the International Masonry Institute through collective bargaining agreements with Locals of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. As 1976 gets underway, 75% of the BAC members are covered by such MCAA or other contractor agreements. "It's obvious," points out IMI Chairman David B. Soloff, Jr., "that IMI has come a long way in five years. IMI is starting 1976 as an organization widely recognized as the promotion arm and resource center of the masonry industry," he said.

Serving with Soloff as Trustees and officers on the Board of IMI are: Charles Velardo, First Vice Chairman; George A. Miller, Secretary-Treasurer; Donald R. Bidwell, and Eugene George. BAC Advisors on the IMI Board are: Thomas F. Murphy, John T. Joyce, James Richardson, Edward Bellucci and L.. G. Carlisle. Executive Director of IMI is Neal English.

IMI's programs promoting work opportunities for the masonry industry have been broadened for 1976. They were approved at a recent meeting of the Board of Trustees and Advisors in Washington, D.C. "New funding support from many regions throughout North America has made it possible for IMI, despite the business slowdown, to continue its 1975 programs and add a new dimension to them for 1976," according to IMI Chairman Soloff.

The following, major IMI projects for 1976 were approved by the Board.

TIME magazine in Canada will be added to the list of national magazines running full-page, four-color IMI advertisements. Others are: NEWSWEEK-E, ARCHITECTURAL RECORD, AIA JOURNAL, CANADIAN ARCHITECT, ENGINEERING NEWS RECORD, CSI CONSTRUCTION SPECIFIER, DODGE CONSTRUCTION NEWS, BUILDINGS, PROFESSIONAL BUILDER and TRUSTEE (devoted to the trustees of medical facilities). Special direct-mail merchandising efforts are planned with APARTMENT CONSTRUCTION NEWS and HOUSE & HOME. IMI ads will also appear in MCAA'S MASONRY and BAC'S JOURNAL, to reach mason contractors, masonry craftsmen and others. The new ads will feature information on energy conservation, fire-safe construction, loadbearing and the design flexibility of masonry.

A new IMI film will be produced for use by architectural and engineering educators to introduce their students to masonry. It will inform and interest A/E students in the (Please turn page)
