Chicago Masonry Council. Seminars were held on October 19th in Harvey: October 20th in Lincolnshire and on October 21st in Oak Brook.

Main speakers included Thomas B. Redmond. P.E., Director of Technical Services, National Concrete Masonry Association; Buck Richardson, Director, Masonry Engineering Department, International Masonry Institute; and Alan H. Yorkdale, P.E., Director of Engineering and Research, Brick Institute of America. The speakers covered subjects of ASTM specifications for brick, concrete block and mortar, the physical properties of masonry walls, including energy conservation, sound control, fire ratings and bearing characteristics; masonry wall detailing and design covering a host of "do's and don'ts" when designing with masonry.

Mason Contractors from each local geographic area where seminars were given sat as a panel to discuss costs and the relation to competitive materials. Participating mason contractor firms included: Marv Argenta, J. M. Argenta Co.; Ron McClaren, Southfield Builders, Inc.; Joe Martino, J. Martino Construction Co.; and Nelville Gough, Gough Construction Company in Harvey. At Lincolnshire, John Peterson Masonry; Stan Bialek, Thorleif Larsen and Son; Jack Whaley, Ceisel Masonry, Inc.; and Robert Fiocchi, Caesar Fiocchi Company and at Oak Brook, Charles Mueller, D. H. Johnson Co.; Tony Luczynski, T & J Masonry; Robert Lauber, J & E Duff Company. Hugh MacDonald, Executive Director of the Brick Institute of America Region 5, and Colin Munro, Executive Director of the Chicago Masonry Institute served as moderators and seminar coordinators.
