About Our Cover
Waterside, an award-winning urban housing project designed by Davis, Brody & Associates, New York City, sits on a concrete platform extending from the shore of Manhattan into the East River. For the project the architect developed an over-size brick that is 6½" wide x 8½" high x 3" deep. Waterside, in addition to other masonry projects, has won for Davis, Brody & Associates the 1977 Louis Sullivan Award for Architects sponsored by the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen (BAC). The program is administered by the American Institute of Architects.
