Masonry Exhibit Termed Hit of "Meet Me In St. Louis" Show
The Masonry Institute of St. Louis constructed an outstanding display of brick, block and stone at the recent grand opening festival of the St. Louis Convention Center. The festival, which was open to the public and entitled, "Meet Me In St. Louis," ran for two weeks and was viewed by 300,000 visitors. The masonry exhibit was proclaimed the hit of the show by all who visited it. The exhibit featured curved garden walls, a fireplace, brick and stone paving, and a three-ton, pre-laid brick arch. The entire display was erected in just four days by members of Bricklayers Local #1 of Missouri under the supervision of apprentice instructor Carl Martini.
