Twenty-six contestants were given two hours to construct walls which varied in specifications according to their experience levels.

The first-place winners, who received tools and plaques as prizes, were Burten Lewis, Fort Worth, a third-year student and defending champion from last year's second-year level; John Hopkins, Mineral Wells, second-year student, and Eddy Nobles, first-year student.
