Award of Excellence The Pink Palace Museum

Award of Excellence The Pink Palace Museum, designed by Thorn Howe Stratton Strong Architects, Inc., with masonry by Everett W. Cook & Sons, Inc. This project consists of a 100,000 sq. ft. addition to an existing museum. The exterior walls are 8" x 8" x 4" brick tile which were used to blend the exterior of the addition with the split-face marble exterior of the existing structure. The same brick masonry of the exterior is used for interior finishes in a number of public spaces. The detailing of the angular walls inside and outside required numerous special shapes with some sills and coping being "precast" and set as units.
