Target Products In Third Expansion

A growing product line and increasing worldwide sales have necessitated further building expansion for Target Products Division, Federal-Mogul Corp., according to Robert B. Priest, Target general manager.

The firm has purchased the Old Kitty Clover building adjacent to its headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. The structure, now being renovated, is expected to be ready for full occupancy before the end of this year.

This represents the third expansion in 10 years for Target, which manufactures a wide line of saws and diamond drills for construction and industry.

People Events

Harold Mulherin has joined The Stone Center, St. Louis, Mo., in the newly created post of sales manager with responsibility for coordinating sales efforts in the states of Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. W. R. Consal Co., Charlotte, N.C., has appointed Ronald C. Peterson construction products manager and promoted James N. Trowbridge to administrative assistant in its Construction Division. Theodore S. Farfaglia has been named executive director of the U.S. Metric Board, Washington, D.C. He formerly was general counsel of the federal agency.

Dur-O-wal Inc., Northbrook, III., manufacturer of masonry reinforcement systems, has announced four major personnel promotions: Paul J. Welsh to group vice president; James Bushyeager and C. David Haig to vice president.

Pardue Firm Moves

MCAA regional vice president L. C. Pardue, Jr. has announced the relocation of his firm, L. C. Pardue, Inc., from Portland to 20915 S.W. 105th, Tualatin, OR 97062. The new phone number is 503/638-0656.

Builders' Magazine Salutes Hale Olson

The unusual creative talents of Hale W. Olson, president of Ampress Corp., Des Plaines, III., were recently saluted in an article in Commercial Remodeling magazine.

The editorial feature cited Olson's custom designed concrete masonry units to match such widely varied materials as Italian granite and terra cotta. Singled out for mention were the Ampress concrete units designed for the new Chicago Tribune facility in Chicago, the John Hancock Building sidewalks, the Chicago River Bridge inserts, and other installations in the Midwest.

Olson also serves as president of Bloques Durables, Inc., Hormigueros, Puerto Rico.

AED to Meet In Vegas

The Associated Equipment Distributors will conduct its 63rd Annual Meeting and CONDEX exhibit of construction equipment February 1-4, 1982, at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nev.

Garth Miller Honored by Canadian Specifiers

Garth Miller, director of promotion for both the Ontario Masonry Contractor's Association and the Ontario Masonry Industry Promotion Fund, has been awarded the Construction Specifications Canada President's Award.

Miller has held a number of positions with CSC including terms as treasurer, vice-president and secretary-treasurer. He stepped down from the executive council earlier this year. He is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and worked in the west for a number of years as an architect.

Masonry Radio Spot Wins National Award

A radio commercial produced for the Masonry Institute of St. Louis and the Illinois Masonry Institute was awarded top honors in the recent national "CLIO" Awards Program.

The commercial features the Three Little Pigs as "spokesmen" for the safety and quality of brick homes and is currently being aired on a number of St. Louis radio stations.

Now in their 23rd year, the CLIO awards are recognized as the "Oscars" of the advertising industry and attract thousands of entries from throughout the world.

Smart Folks Build with Blek

The Three Little Pigs theme emphasizing the strength and durability of masonry also netted the Masonry Institute of St. Louis a 1977 ADDY award for outdoor advertising. The attention-getting billboards appeared on major arteries throughout the St. Louis area.
