Steuler Industries of West Germany, a leading manufacturer of ceramic tile products, has announced the formation of Steuler International Corp., with corporate offices, showroom and a 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Canton, Ohio. Larry D. Barricklow heads the Steuler International marketing team.

David B. Casey has been named southern division sales rep for Kraftile Co., Fremont, Calif., a high-fired clay tile manufacturer.

The election of Robert L. Beck as group vice president and Allen E. Valentine as vice president of public affairs has been announced by National Gypsum Co., Dallas, Texas. Beck will have line responsibility for American Oleon Tile Co., manufacturer of glazed, unglazed mosaic and quarry ceramic tile.

Waldo Marolf of Davenport, la., president of MCAA's Quad-City Chapter, is reported doing well and anxious to be back on the job following a mild heart attack... Ruthlene "Sami" Speece, executive secretary of the Masonry & Tile Contractors Association, Las Vegas, Nev., is undergoing stroke therapy at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital. MCAA wishes Waldo and Sami speedy recoveries... John H. Matthys, associate professor of civil engineering at the University of Texas, Arlington, has been elected chairman of ASTM Committee C-12 on Mortars for Unit Masonry.

The masonry work of John Abeln Bricklaying (MCAA), St. Louis, Mo., is featured in Kirchner, Inc.'s current "Block of the Month" promotion campaign. The four-color printed insert depicts the impressive Eliot Chapel in St. Louis which has been constructed of Athenia Limestone splitface concrete block... Kirchner also has announced the election of William A. Gooch as the firm's vice president of operations... David A. Whiting, research engineer for the Portland Cement Association, Skokie, Ill., has received the ASTM Sanford E. Thompson Award.

Dick Paetow, a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, has joined the Minnesota Masonry Institute as assistant director... Marblehead Lime Co., Chicago, Ill., has promoted Charles L. Norton to general manager of engineering. Peter Smith, director, Research & Development Branch, Ontario Ministry of Transportation & Communications, Canada, is the newly elected president of the American Concrete Institute.
