Following these addresses, MCAA members, including many of the ladies, adjourned to the Town & Country parking area where a special section was reserved for the Masonry Industry Showcase. Again, the beautiful weather was instrumental in making this popular annual event not only an informative but a pleasurable experience.
Seated on chairs and standing, the spectators watched 10 leading manufacturers put their equipment through the paces in live demonstrations of their capabilities on the job site. The participating firms were: Champ Sales Corp., Clark Equipment Co., the Gradall Division (formerly Loed Corp.) of Bendix Corp., Hyster Co., Koehring Construction Equipment, Lull Engineering Co., Inc., Mark Industries. Merritt Sales, Pettibone Corp., and Thin Line Pump.
Acting as moderator for the program was Material Handling Committee chairman Tony Luczynski. He was assisted by Don Grant, Safety Committee chairman, as well as members of both committees, including (Material Handling) Jerry Dufour, Senon Hirsekorn, Don Johnson, Paul Schroeder, Al Wendt and Jerry Williams, and (Safety) Mac Terry, Frank Uding and John Smith.
The rapidly conducted program took 90 minutes and concluded at 11:30 a.m., giving the members time to freshen up and enjoy a delicious buffet luncheon in the Convention Center and have another chance to visit the Trade Show.
That evening, MCAA had another treat in store-a special "Mexican Fiesta" theme party featuring fine Mexican fare, entertainment, music and dancing. The festive occasion was preceded by an hour-long Industry Reception graciously hosted by the Brick Institute of America and the National Concrete Masonry Association (see box).
There were many entertaining sessions in the MCAA ladies program.
The final day of the Conference, Thursday, February 24, was marked by two events the final segment of the Trade Show, which closed its doors at 10:30 a.m., and the MCAA Annual Meeting. The latter consisted chiefly of hearing and discussing reports of the Association's officers, regional vice presidents, and committee chairmen.
President Leonard announced that the '84 MCAA Conference is scheduled for the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, La., January 25-February 1.
The '83 MCAA Summer Executive Board Meeting will be held June 26-29 at The Pillar & Post, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, Canada. For more information, contact the MCAA Executive Office.
President Leonard adjourned the Annual Meeting at 12 noon, thus concluding MCAA's 33rd International Masonry Conference.
