Personal Sidelights at the MCAA Conference
After not being with us for quite some time, it was good to see Don Lowery helping to man the Target Products exhibit at the MCAA Trade Show in San Diego. Our special thanks (again) to Federal-Mogul Corp., Target's corporate parent, for the thoughtful remembrance gift to MCAA Executive Board members on the occasion on MCAA's 33rd International Masonry Conference and Show.
Also joining us at the Conference after a lengthy absence were Mr. & Mrs. L. C. Pardue of Portland, Ore. They are the parents of MCAA regional vice president Lenny Pardue. It's always good to reminisce with them about items of mutual interest in the Pacific Northwest.
Joining us from our 50th state was MCAA state chairman Charles Miyata, who is headquartered in Honolulu and whose enthusiasm for masonry never stops. But Norm and Bonna Jean Eatherton claim to have traveled the farthest to reach the Conference from Honolulu to Denver and on to San Diego!
Fred Daues, chairman of MCAA's Masonry Panels Committee, was unable to be with us this year due to illness. We hope he is fully recovered by the time he reads this and is looking ahead to the '84 Conference in New Orleans.
Some of the folks at the Town & Country Hotel wondered who all those red-jacketed men were. They were, of course, our good friends from north of the border-members of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association-who again held their Board Meeting in conjunction with MCAA's Conference. It's always great to see the MCAA past presidents at any event. Present in San Diego were (from left), Charles Velardo (1974-75), Louis Helbert (1980-81) and Gene George (1978-79). Included in the large contingent were MCAA regional vice president Dino Maniago and past president Gene George and their wives, Janet and Pat.
It was great to visit with the venerable Herschel Hunt and his wife, Catherine, from Indianapolis. Ind. You can usually count on them to be there when mason contractors get together. Ditto for Bob Dalton, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, and now with the veterinary association in San Diego. Bob stopped by to visit many of
