The Concrete Masonry Division of the Missouri Concrete Association has elected Robert E. Mohan, Majestic Building Material Corp., St. Louis, Mo., president for 1983-84. Dale Kirchner, president of Kirchner Industries, Bridgeton, Mo., was a featured speaker at the Masonry Institute of Iowa's recent annual convention in Cedar Rapids. He spoke on "Marketing Masonry in the Present Economy." Edwin G. Hedstrom, assistant v.p./sales & technical services, Ideal Basic Industries, Inc., Denver, Colo., received an ASTM Award of Merit for his long-time research committee work dealing with manufactured masonry units, cement, and concrete aggregates.

Carl B. Sensenig has been promoted to vice president/sales of Glen-Gery Corp., Reading. Pa. Continental Clay Co. (formerly McNess-Kittaning Brick Co.), Kittanning, Pa., has named Henry J. Evans III director of marketing, distributor improvement and product development. Pederson & Houpt, MCAA's legal counsel based in Chicago, has announced that Theodore E. Cornell III and Jonathan B. Gilbert have become members of the firm. Linda B. Motz and Richard Demarest Yant have become associates.

Joe Szabo, chairman of the Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International Pension Fund, and his wife Ginny recently visited the "very brick-oriented" and historic city of Savannah, Ga., during a sailing holiday along the Eastern Seaboard. So many masonry buildings exist in Savannah because the city fathers of generations past heeded the advice "build with brick" after a disastrous fire. Steven P. National Gypsum Co./Cement Division, Southfield, Mich., has promoted David C. Tovey to manager of the Philadelphia sales district. Hubert R. Gardner is now associated with Everett W. Cook & Sons, Inc., Masonry Contractors, Memphis, Tenn. J. Thomas Ryan has been appointed executive vice president of a new Construction Information Group in McGraw-Hill Information Systems Co., New York, N.Y. In this new position, he is responsible for the company's F. W. Dodge, Sweet's and Cost Information Systems divisions.
