Southern Nevada Mason & Tile Contractors Honor Area Building Designers and Associates

The Masonry and Tile Contractors Association of Southern Nevada recently held their fourth annual Outstanding Architect's Award competition to honor Southern Nevada architects who design with brick, concrete block, stone, tile and marble.

Approximately 115 persons, comprised of architects, engineers, local building officials and association members, attended the awards ceremony in the Maxim Hotel. A Distinguished Award, an Award of Excellence and two Merit Awards were presented to the following:

Distinguished Award

Architect: Warren B. Buchanan, Architects. Building: Harding & Dawson Law Office, Las Vegas, Nev. Mason Contractor: Bob Allyn Masonry. Supplier: WMK Builders Products, using the MC Gibbs system of mortarless block, and The Brickyard, using Robinson brick.

Award of Excellence

Architect: Marnell Corrao Associates, Inc. Building: Desert Inn Spa, Las Vegas, Nev. Mason Contractor: Tony Marnell Masonry, Las Vegas, Nev. Supplier: Cind-R-Lite, using block, and The Brickyard, using PCP glass block.

Merit Awards

Architect: JMA Architects & Engineers. Building: Fred D. Gibson Office Building, Henderson, Nev. Mason Contractor: Bill Richardson Masonry Contractor. Supplier: Tri Delta and The Brickyard, using split-faced block and PCP glass block.

Architect: JMA Architects & Engineers. Building: JBA Consulting Engineering Building. Las Vegas, Nev. Mason Contractor: B. E. Addis Masonry. Supplier: The Brickyard, using Colorado brick.

Warren Buchanan, winner of the Distinguished Award, received an expense-paid five-day trip to Hawaii.
