Lane Elected Head of ESCSI
William H. Lane of Big River Industries, Inc., Baton Rouge, Louisiana was installed as President of the Expanded Shale Clay and Slate Institute at the conclusion of the Institute's Thirty-fifth Annual Meeting on October 6, 1987 at Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel, Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Lane will serve as ESCSI's President until the 1988 Annual Meeting.
Other Institute officers for 1987-88 are Carsten Mortensen, Utelite Corporation, Coalville, Utah-Vice President; Andrew F. Mackie, Buildex, Inc., Ottawa, Kansas-Treasurer and Technical Direction Chairman; and William G. Grigg, Carolina Stalite Company, Salisbury, North Carolina Secretary. The immediate past president lent is A. C. Ford, Jr., Solite Corporation, Richmond, Virginia. Harry C. Robinson of Rockville, Maryland continues as Managing Director.
Fifty-nine members and guests attended the Boston meeting. President Ford presided during the general meeting sessions. Producers representing 20 states and representatives from Japan and Canada were assembled.
Technical and promotion committees convened during the week to coordinate activities and to plan for the coming year.

The glass faces of this Glass Block are substantially thicker than normal Glass Blocks. Firearms tests in Europe showed this block to be bullet resistant. An excellent choice to deter vandalism or break-ins. The FORTRESS block has a hollow low pressure center, which gives it good insulation qualities.
