Closing After 80 Years
After 80 years the Sheffield Brick & Tile Company in Sheffield, Iowa, has ceased operations. Richard J. Galvin, president of the family owned business said the 13 production workers had been laid off. During peak production the company employed as many as 80 workers. Sheffield Brick will continue to operate a sales office in Kansas City, and Galvin, 76, said he will continue to sell brick and tile products under the company name from his home in Sheffield.
