Stanley N. Child
Stanley Newton Child, 90, died on February 4, 1989 from natural causes.
Mr. Child was a member of MCAA and had served on many of its Committees and as a State Chairman. He was president of the MCAA Chapter in Salt Lake City for many years.
A veteran of World War I, he served one term in the Utah House of Representatives and two terms as a Senator in the Utah Legislature.
The Child firm is noted for its excellent workmanship and Salt Lake City is blessed with many of the firms fine structures.
We will all miss Stan for his quiet leadership that led many a problem to a positive solution.

Malcolm H. Allen
Malcolm H. Allen, a former director of the Brick Institute of America Engineering & Research Division, died March 1, 1989. He was 80.
Allen retired from BIA in 1973, and has been living in Greensboro, N.C. His career in masonry began immediately after graduation from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He joined Region 6 of the Structural Clay Products Institute as a field engineer in 1938 and was appointed regional director in 1940. He then served as chief engineer at SCPI's national office and in 1954 joined the Structural Clay Products Research Foundation as manager of field engineering and development. In 1962 he was promoted to manager of structural research and became director of the BIA Research Division in 1966.
