PEOPLE IN THE NEWS

Joe H. Patrick, Jr., president of Southern Brick Company in Ninety Six, South Carolina, has been elected president of the Brick Association of South Carolina. Elected vice president at the recent annual meeting of Brick Association was Nelson Ingram, manager of Ashe Brick Company, Van Wyck. Elected treasurer was Bobby Rogers, president of Palmetto Brick Company, Cheraw, South Carolina.

Markovsky

Robert T. Markovsky has been named director of merchandising by Cooper-Tools. With the company since 1965 in various capacities, he will now be responsible for directing and coordinating merchandising functions for all brands in all markets.

Robin Lawrence has joined Huls America as midwest regional manager, chemicals division. His responsibilities include management of representatives and distributors in thirteen midwestern states. Before joining Huls, Lawrence was a sales representative for Halim Building Specialties, LaGrange Park, Illinois.

Steve Michaels has been appointed northeast regional manager for Hertz Equipment Rental. He will be responsible for branch operations in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey.

Stephanie P. Kingston has been appointed director of marketing by Trenwyth Industries. The newly formed marketing department will coordinate all advertising, promotional and public relations activities of the specialty concrete masonry manufacturer. Linda Adcock, formerly resident sales manager for the company, has been named manager of Trenwyth's newly created international division, which will market its products overseas.

Garland Steele, consulting engineer of Steele Engineering, has been elected to a three year term on the ASTM board of directors. Steele, who is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and West Virginia, has been active in ASTM for over twenty-five years.

Richard Aldersley, formerly western regional salesmanager, has been appointed JCB, Incorporated's vice president of sales. Ron Crites, formerly JCB service manager for North America, has been appointed vice president of parts and service. Larry Carroll, formerly dealer development and sales office manager, has been appointed vice president of finance and administration by JCB.

John Moran has been appointed to the hazardous materials shipment information systems committee. Established by the National Academy of Sciences, the committee makes recommendations to Congress concerning hazardous materials and hazardous wastes in the U.S. Moran is the fund director of safety and health of the Laborers' Health and Safety Fund of North America.
