PEOPLE IN THE NEWS

Rick Cook has been named western regional salesmanager of JCB, Incorporated, replacing Richard Aldersley who has been named JCB vice president of sales. With JCB since 1988, Cook was the company's material handling specialist.

Ned Pehrson has been appointed western regional manager of Ericson Manufacturing, joining regional salesmanagers Tom Mayer (east) and Marty Slimak (central) to complete the firm's sales management team. Pehrson was formerly western area manager for Amerace Corporation.

J. Greg Borchelt, Brick Institute of America's director of engineering and research, has been elected treasurer of the Construction Specifications Insitute. His two year term of office starts July 1, 1992.

Charles N. Farley, Brick Institute of America director of marketing and corporate secretary, has been appointed to a fifth term as brick industry representative to the Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Building Products and Other Materials for Trade Policy Matters. The committee reports to the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

J. William Melsop has been elected president of the Austin Company, international firm of consultants, designers, engineers and constructors. He succeeds Thomas J. Judge, who was elected chairman of the board. Melsop, who joined the company in 1967, was most recently manager of the Cleveland district.

James T. Breedlove has been named vice president and general counsel of Transport International Pool and Gelco Space. He was formerly an assistant to the U.S. Attorney General.

John Moran, director of occupational safety and health for the Laborer's Health and Safety Fund of North America, has been appointed to the Department of Labor's (OSHA) Advisory Committee. The committee advises OSHA in the formation of construction safety and health standards.

Sondra R. Rehm has been appointed southeast regional sales manager by Perma Grain Products. Rehm will be responsible for contact with the company's representatives and distributors in Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Theodore W. Coons, president of Spillman Company, Columbus, Ohio, has been elected chairman of ASTM Committee C. 27 on Precast Concrete Products for a two year term. The committee formulates test methods, specifications, recommended practices and promotes knowledge relating to precast concrete products, exclusive of concrete pipe.

Colleen L. Hose, formerly a customer service representative, has been promoted to the position of sales representative for the states of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania by Cushwa Brick Company. Before joining Cushwa in 1990, she served with the U.S. Marine Corps.

Benjamin F. Hoenich, formerly project manager for the Glen-Gary Corporation, has been promoted to the position of marketing services for the company.

Jerry W. Shoulders has been named midwest national account manager for Hertz Equipment Rental. Based in Nashville, he has been with the company since 1988, most recently as senior sales representative in Carson, California. He will be responsible for developing and servicing accounts in eastern Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, lowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, southern Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

John Willk has been appointed general manager of Essroc Materials' aggregate division. Willk, who had been regional manager responsible for the division's operations in the U.S., will now be responsible for the company's aggregate operations in Canada and the U.S. Brent Edwards has been named district manager of the Hillsville aggregates operations. Formerly salesmanager, he will be responsible for sales production and finance in his new position.

Ron Ohmes, president of F.F. Kirchner, has been appointed chairman-elect of the National Concrete Masonry Association. Ohmes will serve as chairman-elect for one year, and will then serve as chairman of the board the following year.

James S. Morris has been named executive director of the Virginia Masonry Council. He was formerly with Cushwa Brick Company as mid-Atlantic and southeast salesmanager.

Brian C. Rugg has been appointed national salesmanager and Michael D. Gee has been named senior product manager for the W.R. Grace Company construction products division.
