After graduation from Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1966, he joined SH&G as an architectural designer. He has served in other assignment roles as project architect, project manager and chief architect for the health facilities and transportation divisions at this firm.

Droz is a registered architect in the State of Michigan and an active member in the American Society for Testing and Materials on six committees: C-1, Cements; C07, Lime; C-12, Mortars for Unit Masonry; C-15 Manufactured Masonry Units: C-24. Building Seals and Sealants; and, E-6, Performance of Building Construction. He's a member of The Masonry Society, in which he is a board member, vice president and former chairperson for the construction practices committee.

Droz lectures at the Universities of Wisconsin, Michigan. Notre Dame and NCMA conventions, TMS annual meetings and Masonry Institute of Northwestern Ohio. He has written papers about brick veneer/metal stud exterior walls.
