To kick off the formation of the Segmental Contractors Institute (SCI) by MCAA last month, we've featured an overview of the interlocking paving stone and segmental retaining wall industries in this issue, authored by industry leader Len Browning. We'll feature articles relating to these important markets in future issues on a regular basis. SCI members will enjoy all of the benefits of MCAA membership, as well as the special advantages of having an institute devoted to their specific needs. The new division's objectives include promotion of the general welfare of its members, encouragement of efficiency in the art of segmental construction and a dedication to the education of apprentices in the segmental industry.

Let us know what you think about this issue-what you like and don't like, what you want to see more or less of, and what you feel are the "hot" topics that we should be addressing editorially. We'll welcome your input, your comments pro and con.

It's official! The Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) and the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), will jointly publish an Expo Daily during Masonry Expo '95 in Las Vegas, February 6-8, 1995. For further information or to reserve space, call 708/782-6767 or fax 708/782-6786.

Members of Masonry Magazine's Advisory Board don't take their duties lightly. In addition to several in-person meetings each year, they're contacted at least once every month for their guidance and critiques. Nor do we take this advice lightly. Many of the changes you've seen in the magazine-from graphics and design to contents during the past several years since the founding of the Advisory Board, have been attributable, in large part, to their guidance. Advisory Board members have become friends and members of our magazine family Which makes the loss of a member an occasion for sadness-the joining of a new member is an occasion for celebration. This is a month of mixed blessings-the retirement of Barbara Campbell and the installation of Howard Droz... Barbara, a charter member and Executive Director of the Masonry Institute of Dayton (Ohio) has announced her retirement from both positions due to her husband's upcoming retirement and move from the Dayton area. We wish them both Godspeed, clear skies and smooth seas. A Detroit area architect, Howard Droz is active in many masonry industry organizations. His brief bio will appear in our next issue. Welcome aboard, Howard.-Gene Adams
